"After a lifetime of having badly overcrowded teeth with poor alignment, I made the step to contact Adam after a colleague of mine had amazing results in her treatment. I had one dealbreaker - I did not want to have any teeth extracted. I thought this would mean treatment would be impossible, but much to my delight, it was still possible through the use of IPR (no way near as scary as it sounds).

The latest technology is used so you don't have nasty impressions and moulds - a painless scanner is used to get 3D images of your teeth. Again, a sign that Adam invests in his practice. For Covid, they made things absolutely as secure as possible, and there was never a moment that I felt unsafe.

Adam and his team always went above and beyond to listen to me and explain things to me in full. He is always honest and realistic about what can be achieved with other types of treatment. He ensured I was fully involved in my treatment plan and most importantly to make me feel comfortable. I am a typically very nervous patient but his manner made me feel completely at ease. Nothing was ever so scary that I needed any kind of pain relief or sedation, and I used to be someone who would shake in the dental chair. In going through this process, it has also helped me become more confident with dentistry in general which is a very welcome bonus.

My treatment lasted just over a year but this would have been less were it not for the 2020 lockdown. I never dreamed that it would be possible to achieve a straight smile in that period of time, given that as a child I had been told 2-3 years of traditional braces plus head braces, extractions, etc.

Finding a quality Invisalign provider is essential - the aftercare, having Adam on hand if you have any queries during your treatment, his guidance and support are imperative to a successful treatment and any issues can be quickly addressed. There may be other online providers that appear cheaper at first glance, but all I can say to that is 'you get what you pay for'. Adam offers payment plans as well and all prices are discussed before treatment begins so you don't ever have nasty surprises.

Making the decision to have your teeth straightened is a big one, but for anyone who is unsure - I say go for it! It is an investment in your smile, your dental health and your self-esteem that will last the rest of your life. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. Adam is absolutely the best person to get you on that journey.

"I had an unusually big gap that looked liked I had 2 teeth missing in the front and which had gradually widened and protruded forward over the years. It was tremendously affecting my confidence and my smile.

"Following on from my recent Invisalign treatment, I just wanted to say a massive thank you to Adam and the team. I am so pleased with the results and it has been one of the best things I have ever done for myself. The treatment all in all (from my first consultation to my final appointment) took approximately 1 year to complete. In the past, I have always felt nervous and anxious when attending the dentist however Adam and the team made me feel relaxed, comfortable and answered any questions I had about the treatment. Overall, the Invisalign treatment was relatively pain free. At the beginning of the treatment, the retainers would sometimes cut the side of my tongue/gums however this was resolved by using wax or a nail file. The retainers themselves were very comfortable to wear and sometimes I even forgot I had them in! I got into a daily routine of when I would take them out to eat and clean them, and they also helped me in changing my eating habits (for example, less snacking and drinking more water). During the process, it was amazing to see how much my teeth were moving on a weekly basis, and each week I was feeling more comfortable with my smile. At the end of the treatment, Adam also filed/shaped my front teeth which finished my new smile off perfectly. As a whole, I am extremely happy with the outcome of Invisalign and I highly recommend visiting Adam for those who wish to feel confident in their smile.

Now my treatment with Invisalign is completed, I just wanted to say a BIG thank you.

I came to see you in September 2017 with teeth, both top and bottom, badly out of alignment.

You recommended Invisalign, and whilst I had reservations and nerves, you took the time and had the patience to explain how the system worked and all that was required of me to ensure I would end up with 'perfect' teeth. I was impressed that you were actually able to show me by 3D on a screen, not only the various stages of the treatment, but also the finished look of my teeth before you had actually started. Amazing!

My particular treatment lasted 47 weeks and I can honestly say I didn't have a minute of pain throughout. Of course, it felt strange at first, and whilst I thought it might be a pain taking the braces out before meals, in reality, you just get used to it. It becomes part of the routine.

"Before having treatment I was neither upset or happy with my teeth.

They were always a little bit slanted but never looked too bad.

At the back of my mind though I always wanted my teeth straightened and corrected.

After talking to my dentist I decided to go for it and get them straightened once and for all.

Now having had the braces taken off I am pleased to show off my new smile and my straightened teeth!

It wasn't an easy journey - the braces can hurt your gums at first but they do adjust and you get used to it.

The braces are clever technology and don't change your appearance too much - in fact a relative of mine didn't even know I had braces fitted at all - during and even after I'd finished the treatment!

It was all about small forces over time to move and straighten the teeth - nothing too painful at any one moment.

The staff were very professional and have given me great service throughout the treatment.

"I have recently just finished a programme to have a number of veneers introduced and am writing to thank Adam Carstairs of the Royal Mews dental practice to say how pleased I am with the end result.

The final (natural) look achieved has far exceeded my expectations and is undoubtedly the result of a thorough process coupled with the excellent quality veneers that Adam has selected to work with through his own research.

Having elected to have eight teeth replaced it was reassuring to have the detailed preparatory steps explained in a relaxed and unhurried fashion. Given the process was made more complex due to the way my top and bottom sets of teeth meet, the time taken in the preparatory steps (which you don't see in the makeover programmes!) gave me reassurance and confidence at every stage that I had made the right decision.

Reflecting on the two main dental visits required to deliver the final result (first session to prepare my own teeth and fit temporary veneers, the second to fit the veneers), again I would like to commend the professionalism of Adam and his dental nurse Michelle where I feel I was I afforded the highest quality of care. "I had realised that over time my lower teeth were becoming more displaced and that this situation would only worsen. Although everyone was used to the way I sounded and how my teeth looked, I felt that if I didn't do something, I may reach a point where treatment was not an option.

I am delighted with the results. Initially, my objective was to improve the look of my lower teeth, which has been fully satisfied. In addition, I have subsequently found that frequent episodes with my bite, which resulted in pain to my inner lips and cheeks, have been completed resolved. This has had a greater effect on my well-being than the improvement in my looks and was completely unexpected.

My experience was not at all pleasant. If anyone is considering this procedure, they should be aware that the duration of the treatment may be longer than initially expected, and that discomfort may be acute throughout the entire process (mine was around 10 months).

I was of course very self-conscious of my looks during the treatment. However, during that time, and subsequently I've noticed that far more people have these devices fitted than anyone realises. It's only if you look specifically, that you notice people with these types of fittings on their teeth.

As usual, my experience has been as pleasant as possible. As a client of this practice for over 50 years, I am never reluctant to come for treatment. Staff are always pleasant and welcoming.

I'm sure that my particular circumstances (extreme lingual tori) made the treatment more difficult, and therefore uncomfortable. However to anyone who may be considering this procedure please consider first, the long-term benefits, before any short-term discomfort or embarrassment."
